Susanna Spicer - Mezzo-Soprano

One of the first female choral scholars at Trinity, Cambridge and a post-graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Susanna is a highly experienced concert singer. Her engagements have included appearances at the Royal Festival Hall with Simon Rattle and Kurt Masur and the LPO, at the Royal Albert Hall with David Willcocks in Messiah and Elijah and at the BBC Proms in Schubert's Die Verschworenen with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment under Nicholas McGegan. She has sung for Glyndebourne and Kent Opera and her recordings include Paul Patterson's Missa Brevis with the LPO, Poulenc's Le Dialogue des Carmelites with Kent Nagano, Beethoven's Choral Fantasia and works by Percy Grainger with John Eliot Gardiner, Biber's Missa Christi resurgentis for Andrew Manze and The English Concert and works by Christopher Gibbons for Richard Egarr and the Academy of Ancient Music. With the AAM she also recently sung JC Bach’s Ach, dass ich Wassers in the Wigmore Hall and on R3’s ‘Early Music Network’ programme, and JS Bach’s Magnificat on ‘Discovering Music’. 

Susanna’s recent engagements have included Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius, Mahler’s Eighth Symphony (Royal Albert Hall), a concert of Handel arias in St Martin in the Fields, a recital of Ivor Gurney for the Three Choirs Festival and the world premiere of David Goode’s Blitz Requiem in St Paul’s Cathedral with The Bach Choir under David Hill, which was also broadcast on Classic FM. Forthcoming programmes include performances of Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius (Winchester Cathedral) and The Musicmakers, Dvorak’s Requiem and Brahms’ Alto Rhapsody.
